What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a holistic approach to health that addresses illness by stimulating the body's own healing powers. It is based on the principle of the "similae" or "Law of Similars," which states that if a large portion of herbs or some other natural substance is consumed and a specific set of symptoms occur then that same ingredient in small amounts will stimulate the body to fight against those same set of symptoms.

The ideas behind homeopathy are similar to those of vaccinations; however, they are using natural ingredients to ward off symptoms. The most common and simplistic example of homeopathic remedies is that of red onions. While dicing red onions, many people suffer from such symptoms as watery eyes, a runny nose, sneezing and may even develop symptoms of a scratchy throat. Therefore, the red onion is often used as a homeopathic remedy to combat symptoms stemming from mild allergies and the common cold.
